What overall guidelines does BSidesPGH follow?

What's the best way to get participant information?

We encourage sponsors to host a giveaway at their table in order to collect participant information. BSides does not permit the sharing of participant information (companies, titles, or contact info). 

What types of people participate? 

People of all levels of their careers, including founders, CIOs, CEOs, CISOs, students, and all areas of security and IT professionals. There were participants from Giant Eagle, Pitt, FedEx, Duquesne, Bayer, Erie Insurance, Seton Hill, Duquesne Light, Sheetz, Hope Gas, PNC, Point Park, Federated Hermes, Curtiss Wright, Haleon, L.B. Foster, Arconic, UPMC, and more!

What hotel do you recommend? 

The Landing Hotel at Rivers Casino allows guests to walk from their room directly to the Events Center. We provide a special discount for rooms. If you need hotel accommodations, BSides has a hotel block with The Landing Hotel at Rivers Casino for July 9th and 10th. For The Landing Hotel, call (412)231-7777 and ask for the group rate for BSTC, or use this link to reserve your room. Please make your reservation before June 18, 2026. 

What is the sponsor layout?

Sponsors are placed in high-traffic areas. Priority placement upon payment. 

How are speakers chosen? 

Speakers are selected through a blind selection process, and the speaker process begins in early spring. Speaker slots are not connected to sponsorships. Check out the Schedule & Speakers tab for more info. (See a past year’s list here: 2025 Speaker List.)
